Cardiff City

Like so many before him, David was taken to his first game by his father.

A trembling tot; a proud and determined Dad; the noises and smells which were to engulf him.

This milestone occurred at the old Ninian Park, former home of Cardiff City. You can read David’s account of this iconic evening, as Collins Snr sewed the seeds which would both flower and flounder over the coming decades.

Ninian Park will be known to many. As the 60s closed, the Old Lady became all things to all men. It also became David’s second home through to adulthood.

David can still be spotted on the terraces (sic) of the new Cardiff City Stadium, where the giant floodlights and swirling stands of Ninian Park are now a distant memory.

He has made regular appearances on the press benches, combining his in-depth knowledge with a ‘fans’-eye-perspective’ on the vents before him.

David has described thrilling cup clashes, convincing home defeats and battles with rivals Swansea City. Away trips too, at traditional venues such as West Bromwich Albion or new arenas such as Brentford.
