David began his collaboration with local historian Gareth Bennett in an entertaining and innovative series of quizbooks, based upon the history of his local team, Cardiff City.

It also began a partnership with the History Press, which has served the writers well across a series of titles.

The success of the first volume saw the swift production of a second book, which retained the breezy format of its predecessor. Once again, former Welsh football international, David Giles, contributed a generous foreword.

The format, layout and even the title, have since been copied by others but, to be honest, David thought of it all first.

Oft imitated, never bettered.
