With Wales reaching the World Cup for the first time since 1958, David was pleased to collaborate once again with one of his publishers, Y Lolfa, to contribute to a lively book which inspired and excited fans before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Y Wal Goch – Ar Ben y Byd, allowed David to wax lyrical about one of his favourite footie topics, fan culture.

This bilingual book was edited by Ffion Eluned Owen and described the wide panorama of experiences which contribute to life as a Wales football fan. You can read a review of the book here, produced by Nation Cymru.

David’s contribution to Ffion’s work showcases the best of his work, combining his detailed knowledge of the Welsh football scene with a lifelong fascination with life on the terraces. David rarely misses an opportunity to talk in song titles, so this opportunity to pick out a list of his favourite fan anthems and trace the history of football watching in Wales, was simply just too good to turn down. A must read for any students of fans’ behaviour.
